Winter is practically here, which can mean headaches for Boston renters in terms of parking and transportation. First Boston Realty International has some great tips on successfully parking in Boston during the winter.
- Check Boston’s city website for a comprehensive list of snow emergency arteries as well as discount garages near your apartment.
- Consider parking in discount garages in your area with a valid resident parking sticker. You’ll want to arrive 2 hours prior to the beginning of the snow emergency and leave 2 hours after it’s been lifted to get the discount rates.
- Ensure that your resident parking sticker is visible within 24 hours of the end of any storms in Boston.
- Make sure you look up and adhere to any additional parking regulations during snow emergencies as they are strictly enforced in Boston. Don’t forget, parking meters remain in effect.
- Do not park on posted snow emergency arteries during emergencies or you will get a ticket and be towed.
- Do not use space savers 48 hours after a snow emergency has been lifted.
- Do not park within 20 ft of any intersection or more than a foot from the curb.
- Do not park in front of fire hydrants or ramps or in crossways.
- Do not block driveways to any degree.
